I liked the story, I have read a few of this author's books and have two comments. It seems a recurring theme that a child must die in most of her stories. I get the idea that it is heart wrenching but it happens so often I find myself waiting for it. Also, if one more person takes a "shuddering breath" I am afraid I might, too. The author uses this phrase over and over. No one sighs, or pauses, they all take "shuddering breaths". I feel she heard this expression sonewhere and became enamored with it and will not give it up. It takes me away from her story. I understand life isn't all sunshine and roses but generally I like to be uplifted by a book...who wants to be depressed? I have several issues with this book but mainly, the ending was terrible. The book did hold my interest but I kept waiting for a different outcome. Also, one real stickler with me when reading a book is spelling and grammar. This book is full of mistakes. Did anyone proof read this book? I hate giving a bad review but in this case it's warranted.
